USA Criminal Search

As an Add-On service to the County Criminal Record Search, the USA Criminal Search is for those employers who wish to expand the geographical coverage area of their criminal background search beyond the county level.

Clarifacts searches a proprietary database containing millions of records compiled from multiple jurisdictions within all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This database is comprised of various records from departments of correction, state court administrations, state law enforcement agencies, traffic courts, state and county criminal record repositories, prison parole and release files, and probation records, among others.

It should be noted that while the number of records included in this database is expansive, it does not contain a comprehensive index of every criminal record from every jurisdiction in the United States, as no such database currently exists. Therefore, the USA Criminal Search can only be ordered as part of a package that includes a SSN Trace and County Criminal Record Search.

In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), any information found in the USA Criminal Search that may be used to make an adverse hiring decision must be confirmed at the original jurisdiction. Therefore, if the search indicates a “hit” or possible record within the past 7 years, Clarifacts will perform an on-site county level criminal background check in that jurisdiction to verify the accuracy of the information within the report.

To help ensure all Clarifacts clients remain legally compliant in their background screening efforts, this supplementary county level criminal search is conducted at no additional cost*, but rather is included in the USA Criminal Search price.
